CMC ProTech™ Aluminum Key-Lock Carabiners

UL Classified to NFPA 1983 Technical Use    Chrome-UL-Button

Ideal for rescue and rope access, this anodized carabiner’s patented key-lock design does not hang up when unclipping from your harness or web. An optimized D-shape maximizes its strength, and its wide gate opening fits over 1-inch (25 mm) diameter railings, unusual for a carabiner this compact and light. Safety indicators etched on the gate augment easy one-hand operation. Gate choices include the traditional Screw-Lock, the 3 stage Auto-lock, and the Manual Lock which takes a quarter-turn to lock and two actions to unlock. Manual-Lock and Auto-Lock versions are available with a removable keeper pin for use with lanyards or for terminating escape or RIT lines. Every carabiner is proof loaded.

Petzl Am’D Carabiners

Lightweight asymmetric carabiner

The Am’D lightweight asymmetric carabiner is made of aluminum. It has a D shape particularly suited for connection to diverse equipment such as descenders or positioning lanyards. Its fluid interior design and Keylock system facilitate handling. The Am’D carabiner is available in three locking systems: automatic TRIACT-LOCK or BALL-LOCK system, or the manual SCREW-LOCK system.

Features include:

  • D shape is particularly suited for connection to equipment such as descenders or positioning lanyards
  • Aluminum carabiner whose light weight reduces the weight of equipment the worker at height needs to carry
  • May be used with a CAPTIV positioning bar to favor loading of the carabiner along the major axis, to limit the risk of it flipping and to keep it integrated with the device
  • Easier handling:
    – fluid interior design limits the risk of having a catch point and facilitates rotation of the carabiner
    – Keylock system to avoid any involuntary snagging of the carabiner
  • H cross-section:
    – ensures an improved strength-to-weight ratio
    – protects markings from abrasion
  • Available in three different locking systems:
    – TRIACT-LOCK: automatic locking with triple-action gate opening
    – BALL-LOCK: automatic locking with triple-action gate opening, with lock indicator
    – SCREW-LOCK: the manual screw-lock with red band provides a visual warning when the carabiner is unlocked
  • Also available in black (TRIACT-LOCK and SCREW-LOCK)

Petzl GRIGRI® +

Belay device with assisted braking and anti-panic handle, for all single rope diameters
(8.5 to 11 mm)

GRIGRI + is an assisted braking device designed for all climbers, for both indoor and outdoor climbing. It can be used with all single ropes (optimized for 8.9 to 10.5 mm diameter ropes) and is suited for intensive use. The reduction handle offers exceptional descent control. Two usage modes to choose from, depending on need: top-rope belay or lead belay. The top-rope belay mode and the anti-panic handle make for a more comfortable belay, making the GRIGRI + particularly suitable for learning.

Features include:

  • Belay device with assisted braking for indoors and outdoors, designed for all climbers:
    – hand motions are the same as with classic belay systems: both hands on the rope. A fall is stopped by tightening the hand on the free end of the rope
    – can be used with all single ropes (8.5 to 11 mm in diameter), and optimized for 8.9 to 10.5 mm diameters
    – diagrams for rope installation engraved on belay device (interior and exterior)
    – great durability, for intensive use, thanks to the stainless steel wear plate
  • Exceptional comfort during the descent, thanks to the very controlled progression of the rope feed
  • Particularly suitable for learning:
    – anti-panic handle: if the user pulls too hard on the handle, the anti-panic function brakes and stops the descent
    – choice of belay mode, top-rope or lead, thanks to the selection knob: top-rope belay mode facilitates taking up slack and makes for a more comfortable belay
    – option of locking the belay mode

Specifications:

  • Weight: 200 g
  • Rope compatibility: single ropes between 8.5 and 11 mm in diameter
  • Material(s): aluminum side plates, stainless steel friction plate and wear plate, reinforced nylon handle
  • Certification(s): CE EN 15151, UIAA

Petzl RIG

Compact self-braking descender

RIG is a compact self-braking descender primarily designed for experienced rope access workers. It has a multi-function handle that allows control of the descent speed and positioning at a work station without the need to tie off the device. The safety clip reduces the risk of dropping the device and facilitates passing of intermediate anchors. And the automatic return system on the handle limits risks in case of an involuntary action by the user.

Features include:

  • Designed for rope access work (expert users only)
  • Multi-function handle allows the user to:
    – unlock the rope and control the descent with the hand on the free end of the rope
    – position himself at the work station without having to tie off the device
  • The automatic return system on the handle limits risks in case of an involuntary action by the user
  • Handle storage position reduces the risk of snagging when the descender is being carried on the harness.
  • The gate on the moving side plate helps prevent dropping the device and facilitates rope installation when passing intermediate anchors
  • Pivoting cam facilitates taking up the slack in the rope. Can also be used to make a reversible haul system, and for short ascents (in conjunction with a FOOTAPE or FOOTCORD foot loop and an ASCENSION handled rope clamp).
  • Lowers heavy loads up to 200 kg (only for expert users; more information on this technique in the technical advice at www.petzl.com)
